The Bold & Beautiful

This is part of my Forever Grateful project.
As I was selling my home and placing my business on hiatus for a period of time, I took portraits of about 30 people who influenced my career over the past 12 years. This was my way of saying “Thanks” and letting everyone know that I couldn’t have done it without their support.

Lauren,

At age 17, you told me that your dream was to be on a sitcom so you could make millions of people laugh and forget about their troubles for a little bit. This has always inspired me because it tells me that your purpose in life is to ease human suffering, which to me is the noblest of causes. So, like Kermit the Frog, you moved to L.A., not to be rich and famous, but simply to make “Millions of People Happy.”

Beyond your kindness, you are a true original. The creativity you brought to our shoots made your photos stand out in my portfolio and attracted tons of clients my way. Your “Nosey Neighbor” and “LA Driver” headshots have received the biggest response over any other actor headshot I’ve taken.OldShots

On top of that, I cannot tell you how many people came to shoot with me and said, “Lauren Pritchard told me that I have to shoot with Blake Gardner.” I lost count at a bazillion. You have been one of my biggest cheerleaders for the last 12 years and I cannot thank you enough.

I wish you the best of luck in your dream to make people happy… you’ve certainly made me incredibly so.

Forever grateful,

Blake

The Story Behind the Shoot:

When I emailed Lauren about this photo series, she revealed to me that she has been struggling with her health and had a plan of action to lose weight. She suggested that we take some honest, pre-weight-loss photos because she loves her body in “every size, with all the flaws.” Mind you, Lauren is one of the most flawless women I know and she never needs any retouching on her perfect skin. Her words struck me because she didn’t want to lose the weight for looks, but had to for her health.  I asked her to write a love letter to her body… one we could use in the shoot.

Shot on a Canon 5D Mark III with a Canon 24-70mm lens.
