This is part of my Forever Grateful project.
As I was selling my home and placing my business on hiatus for a period of time, I took portraits of about 30 people who influenced my career over the past 12 years. This was my way of saying “Thanks” and letting everyone know that I couldn’t have done it without their support.
You weren’t the first web designer I hired, but you were definitely the best. You streamlined my site to become more responsive and less cluttered. You designed the Questionnaire, which helped me get feedback from my clients on the kind of shots they wanted, and the essence of who I was trying to photograph (a questionnaire I based on the Sam Christensen Workshop also featured in this series). It was one of the most important parts of my process and you made it work flawlessly.
The Story Behind the Shoot:
I love playing around with reflections, so I wanted to see how clean of an image I could get while photographing Helen’s reflection in her MacBook’s monitor. I bounced a single off camera flash into the wall to light her and the room.
There was no major photoshopping to this image. Just a little dodging and burning to tone down the light on her laptop’s keyboard and a little color adjustment.
