This is part of my Forever Grateful project.
As I was selling my home and placing my business on hiatus for a period of time, I took portraits of about 30 people who influenced my career over the past 12 years. This was my way of saying “Thanks” and letting everyone know that I couldn’t have done it without their support.
To Die For… that’s what you are. Working with you has always been a blessing. Whatever you put in front of my lens makes my work look a bazillion times better.
From the tattooed girls you’ve made glamorous…
… to the blushing brides you’ve helped be beautiful…
… to your very own engagement photos and picture perfect wedding…
I’d call you my muse, but that would suggest that you inspire me to create art, when in reality, you have always been the one creating the art that I merely photographed.
My dad once asked a photography mentor, “What’s the key to taking beautiful portraits?” The mentor replied simply, “Photograph beautiful people.” If an aspiring photographer ever asks me what’s the key to taking beautiful portraits, I’ll be quick to respond, “Have Jen DeRosa style it.”
And let me not forget to mention the joy, the life, and the laughter that you bring along with you wherever you go. You’re truly one in a million. Thank you for all you have given me.
The Story Behind the Shoot:
Jen can do it all… hair, make-up, wardrobe, and she even cooks fabulous vegan dinners for me. Her focus in Hollywood has been working on wardrobe for film & television. Honestly, the story behind this shoot is simple. I called her to schedule a time to shoot and then trusted that she was going to create something magical. As always, she didn’t disappoint… Paper Dolls! I mean come on! The photos were taken in her home office where she designs all of her fabulous outfits.
